Abstract
The peroxidase isozyme patterns of apple seedlings from 18 crosses were analysed by starch gel electrophoresis.
The zymograms of 223 mature plants of 7 crosses were compared with those of their cuttings, and it was found that there is the same zymogram in both mature plants and cuttings.
The zymograms of the remaining 9 crosses were also analysed in different years and in different locations.
In addition, 64 plants of 2 crosses were systematically observed and analysed.
No change was found in the separation ratio of E9 for the 9 crosses in different years and at different locations.
Thus, it is confirmed that E9 of peroxidase isozyme can be used as an index for pre-selecting 2–3 month apple seedlings with accuracy of 85%.
