Abstract
A 0.50 % EMS solution in 3 % DMSO was applied for 90 min to shoot internodes 0.5 cm long of in vitro propagated Weigela plants.
After three rinses in sterile water the explants were laid on MS salt culture medium supplemented with kin 2 mgl-1 and IBA 0.3 mgl-1 for two months to promote adventitious shoot formation. 388 of these acclimatized plants have been observed and six mutants detected.
Two were homogeneous mutant plants.
The others appeared on previous normal looking plants.
All these mutants behaved later as solid mutants.
The possibility to improve the low percentage of mutants is discussed.
