Abstract
Three progenies of Sambucus nigra were chosen for isoenzyme analysis together with the three parents, ‘Aurea’, ‘Guincho Purple’ and ‘Laciniata’. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was used to study seven enzyme systems.
For esterase, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, peroxidase, phosphoglucomutase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase a total of 17 loci were deduced from the zymogram bands.
Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase and leucine aminopeptidase showed no variation. Est3 and Est6 were tightly linked, as were Est5 and 6Pgd1. No locus was closely linked with the dominant genes for red leaf colour and yellow leaf colour. 6PGD bands showed up clearly on gels stained for GPI and PGM.
