Abstract
In the Netherlands the Stichting Regeling Handels Potgronden (R.H.P. – Association for Regulations on Commercial Potting Soils) inspects the composition of potting soils and substrates.
Until 1 January 1986 the R.H.P. was controlled by the Research Stations of Aalsmeer, Boskoop and Naaldwijk.
As a result of privatisation by the government the Stichting Regeling Handels Potgronden en Kwaliteitsonderzoek Basisgrondstoffen (Stichting R.H.P for short) was established.
The Stichting R.H.P. was established by:
- Vereniging van Potgrondfabrikanten in Nederland (Association of Potting Soils Producers in the Netherlands);
- Vereniging van Nederlandse Verveners en Veenimporteurs (Association of Dutch Peat Producers and Peat Importers);
- Bedrijfslaboratorium voor Grond- en Gewasonderzoek (Laboratory for Soils and Crop Testing at Naaldwijk).
The Stichting R.H.P. assesses and inspects peat products and other raw materials, potting soil composition and substrates on the basis of stipulated standards and requirements.
After analyzing and approval the substrate receives the R.H.P. hallmark.
