Abstract
The Harrow Fertigation Manager® (HFM®)1, a computerized multifertilizer injector, was adapted to Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) and the system was evaluated under commercial conditions.
A seasonal fertigation schedule was developed and programmed in the computer of the HFM® and applied to the Spring 1994 crop of greenhouse tomatoes.
Tomato fruit yield harvested to the end of July, 1994, averaged 26.5 kg/m2. Electrical conductivity (EC) and pH control of the NFT nutrient solution were maintained effectively by the system.
Detailed records on nutrient content of the NFT nutrient solution throughout the cropping season have identified opportunities for the improvement of the seasonal fertigation program for NFT tomatoes.
