Abstract
Descriptions, produced from continuous variables recorded over a two or three year period, were less reliable when compared with long-term (more than seven years) over-year means, due to the influence of environmental factors.
Statistical adjustment for missing data, using fitted constants, improved reliability. ‘Dynamic’ descriptions, which automatically adjust to the range of continuous variation, have been developed.
