Abstract
Cima di rapa is becoming an important vegetable in south Italy where is sold on local market nearly all year round.
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of 4 sowing dates (September 25, October 21, December 4 and January 19) on yield and time of harvest of 4 cultivars: Quarantina (QR) Sessantina (SS), di Gennaio (DG) and di Febbraio-Marzo (FM).
Yield generally decreased with retarding sowing dates.
Sixty-nine and 107 days of delay in sowing dates reduced by 57 and 96% the marketable yield. ‘FM’ and QR were respectively the most and less productive.
With sowing dates planned in this experiment the yield was scarce in December and abundant in March.
