Abstract
It has been my pleasure to attend every Symposium since this group first met in 1964. Each meeting has had its own special orientation that has brought science and the culture of the host country together to produce a scientifically and culturally successful outcome.
Israel has been no exception.
All who have participated in this meeting have had the opportunity to greet old friends and meet new ones.
Although our group is small, the participants have led the field of virus diseases of ornamental plants with many significant contributions.
The scientists in Israel have shown us this week what a major role they have played in the development and application of a variety of technologies combined with fundamental science in solving practical problems.
We have often said that each symposium gathering is better than the last.
Our week here in Israel will be hard to surpass.
