Abstract
Five homozygous long-fruited cucumber lines were crossed in a diallele design in conformity with the random model of the Griffing II design.
The parental lines and their offspring without reciprocals were planted in a randomized block design with two replications in a heated glasshouse at the Vegetable and Potato Research Institute, Tirana.
Plant growth, sex expression, and yield were estimated for the parental lines and their crosses.
There were significant differences in the slope of the growth curve for internode length, but there was no significant difference in the slope of the growth curve for leaf number.
Most yield components appeared to be under additive gene control.
On the other hand, sex-expression appeared to be under both, additive and non-additive control.
