Abstract
The main methods used to propagate conifers include seeds, cuttings and grafting as well as micropropagation techniques, organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis.
Propagation from seed is the principal method used and is important for the mass production of plants for forestry.
Vegetative propagation techniques have traditionally been developed and used for the production of horticultural cultivars, but these methods are increasingly being used for the mass production of genetically improved planting stock for forestry.
