Abstract
Names are sorted alphabetically, then in the taxonomic hierarchy: subgenus (subgen.), section (sect.), species, subspecies (subsp.), variety (var.), forma (f.), cultivar.
No discrimination is made between accepted names and synonyms because of the variety of ways the same taxa have been treated by different authors in this volume; cross-references have sometimes been inserted.
Names of fossil taxa are preceded by a dagger (†). To save space, all authorities have been omitted unless their omission would create ambiguity; for living conifers, most can be found in Farjon, A. 2001. World Checklist and Bibliography of Conifers ed. 2. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Figure references are in boldface.
