Abstract
The complete nucleotide sequence, 14,547 nucleotides of Strawberry crinkle virus (SCV) was determined.
The sequence revealed seven open reading frames (ORFs) on the viral complementary sequence.
Four putative proteins of SCV were postulated by comparison of the similarities to other rhabdovirus proteins: nucleocapsid (N), matrix protein (M), glycoprotein (G), and polymerase (L). Nucleotide sequences and deduced amino acid sequences of N, M, G and L of SCV exhibit significant homology to the corresponding Cytorhabdoviruses, Northern cereal mosaic virus and Lettuce necrotic yellows virus. A series of two ORFs (genes P2 and P3) were present between N and M gene sequences and one small ORF (P6) was present between the G and L sequences.
The genes are arranged in a rhabdovirus typical negative sense order 3′-N-P2-P3-M-G-P6-L-5′.
