AGRONOMIC BEHAVIOUR OF FOUR CLONES OF ARTICHOKE (CYNARA SCOLYMUS L.) IN THREE CYCLES OF PRODUCTION AND THREE DIFFERENT PLANTINGS OVER THREE CONSECUTIVE YEARS: THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AUTUMN CROP

In the Ebro Valley, intuitively or out of habit, the grower maintains an artichoke plantation for 1, 2, 3 or more years.
The aim of this study is to monitor the agronomic behaviour of this crop.
Three plantations of four clones taken from Tudela varieties have been established over three consecutive years.
Each plantation has remained in cultivation for three years.
The harvests were carried out in autumn and springtime.
Crossed comparisons have been made between the different clones and also between plantation times.
There are no significant differences among the three clones in terms of the yield in spring.
However, in the first year, there are significant differences between the three clones and vitro-clones which confirm data from other trials.
The autumn yield is of particular importance in relation to the total production.
It is influenced by early frosts and attack from Ascochyta hortorum.
