Abstract
Tissue culture has important practical applications for supplying pathogen free plants of fruit species.
In vitro production of fig (Ficus carica L.) plants cv. ‘Roxo de Valinhos’ was possibly measuring the effects of naphthalenacetic acid (NAA) concentrations of 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg L-1 and of gibberellic acid (GA3) at 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0 and 8.0 mg L-1 in Woody Plant Medium.
The experimental design was completely randomized in a 5×5 factorial scheme with 4 replicates.
After 90 days at 27 ±1°C, 35 μmol m-2 s-1 irradiance and a 16 h photoperiod, the plantlets were evaluated.
NAA at 2 mg L-1 together with 8 mg L-1 GA3had positive effects on root elongation and root dry matter weight.
This is a great benefit for this particular stage of the protocol in which rooting is fundamental.
However, greater shoot growth occurred in the absence of NAA and in the presence of 8 mg L-1 GA3.
