ASSAY ON ANTIOXIDATION ACTIVITY IN LOQUAT (ERIOBOTRYA JAPONICA) GERMPLASM

Abstract
Total free sugar and total flavonoid contents and antioxidation activity were analysed among 30 loquat accessions.
Total free sugar content was between 3.85 to 14.01%, showing wide difference among accessions.
Total phenol content was between 14.08 to 40.38 μmol∙g-1dwt and ‘RH42’ recorded the highest value among accessions.
Total flavonoid content was between 4.64-18.0 μmol∙g-1dwt among accessions.
From the assay of antioxidation activity by ABTS method, the accessions with higher total phenol and flavonoid content showed higher correlation with antioxidation activity.
