Abstract
Foliar application of growth regulators of peach trees brought disappointing results in changings the frost tolerance of one year old shoots.
Ethrel applied at the concentration of 1000 and 1500 ppm was harmful to peach shoots.
CCC at 1000 ppm increased slightly the cold tolerance.
Spraying the trees at the end of July leads to the inhibition of extension growth; to the acceleration of leaf fall in autumn and in consequence to the change in frost tolerance development.
Alar and ABA gave ambiguous effects and the results varied depending on the time of application.
Generally; no significant correlation was found between growth inhibition, leaf fall and development of cold tolerance for trees sprayed with Alar and ABA. Preliminary results showed that lignin content increased in the shoots sprayed with ABA, Alar and CCC.
