Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the phenological, morphological and ecological characteristics of 7 different species and subspecies of irises with rhizome in Van and its environs and define the possible areas of landscape architecture.
The species were evaluated in terms of phenological characteristics such as the date of blooming, the duration of blooming and duration of maturation of their seeds.
In addition, morphological characteristics, such as the plant length, the status of branching, flower characteristics and color were studied as well.
Based on the ecological study of the species, some physical and chemical analyses were carried out using soil samples taken from 20 cm depth of the natural environment of the species.
In addition, years of meteorological data related with their natural environment were examined.
As a result of periodical studies, information was given regarding possible areas of usage of the species in landscape planning.
