Abstract
Şebin is a Persian walnut cultivar that originated as a seedling in Şebinkarahisar, and has become a standard in many walnut producing areas of Turkey.
The popularity of Şebin is due to its high kernel ratio, nut quality, precocity and excellent yield.
The mean nut weight varied from 9.95 to 12.40 g, kernel weight from 6.25 to 7.85 g, and the kernel ratio was between 61.0 and 64%. However, fruitlessness was a problem observed in some orchards established with this cultivar.
Pistillate flower abortion (PFA) can reduce dry in-shell walnut yield 75-85% in Şebin.
