Abstract
India is the largest producer, processor, exporter and consumer of cashew in the world.
Cashew production can be enhanced only by improving productivity in the existing old/new gardens by nutrient management.
As it responds very well to manures and fertilizer application.
About 50 to 100% increase in nut yield to nutrition is seen in this crop.
Hence, an experiment was laid out at AICRP on Cashew, Agricultural Research Station, Chintamani, Karnataka.
At varying levels of NPK, the observations showed non-significant variation in plant height, trunk girth and canopy spread for nitrogen, potash and for 2-way and 3-way interactions except for phosphorus and nitrogen phosphorous interaction levels.
The yield of nuts showed significant variation for nitrogen, phosphorus, potash levels and for NP interactions, whereas NK, PK, NPK interactions showed non-significant variation for yield.
The NPK levels showed, highest cumulative nut yield and benefit cost ratio of 10 years at N-500 g, P2O5-250 g, and K2O-250 g (51.03 kg and B:C of 2.08).
