Abstract
As one of the traditional flowers in China, the Cymbidium sinense is popular among the public.
There are large differences in flower formation among different varieties of C. sinense. In this study, the flower formation differences and flowering regulation methods of C. sinense were explored by exogenous hormones and temperature treatments.
The flower formation process of C. sinense was divided into six stages, including the undifferentiated stage, differentiation and development stage, pedicel elongation stage, small bell stage, big bell stage, and the blooming stage.
The development process of C. sinense was slow, and flower branches developed slowly after the differentiation and development stage.
It took 6-7 months for the floral bud to achieve flowering.
Results of the regulator treatments found that both exogenous hormone and exogenous hormone via 10 treatments had no effect on flowering time and decreased the number of flowers.
GA alone application accelerated floral bud elongation, but easy to induce aborted flower at last, applying with BA prevented this situation.
BA alone application inhibited flower development.
GA+BA treatment had the best effect on the elongation of floral buds.
