Abstract
This two-year research project MEDBERRY, led by the Agronomic and Veterinary Institute Hassan II within the PRIMA program, aimed to identify strawberry accessions best suited for organic farming due to increasing demand.
In the first year, ten accessions were assessed at the Ain Aouda organic farm.
An additional five were added and assessed in the second year, including both organic and conventional farming systems in Ain Aouda and in Larache, respectively.
High tunnel setups were used, and parameters on productivity and quality were collected over an eight-harvest period.
Significant differences were recorded in accession adaptability, yield, and quality traits.
The data analysis provided a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted relationships between strawberry attributes and key predictors.
The identified accession An131362 notably expressed a great sensitivity to the growing conditions, top performing in organic while poorly in conventional farming system.
These findings stressed the importance of considering genetics × environment when selecting strawberry accessions for optimal performance.
