Abstract
In order to promote lychee planting in Guizhou, in 2014, Pomological Sciences Institute of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences introduced three late-maturing litchi (Litchi chinenis) cultivars, ‘Dadingxiang’, ‘Ziniangxi’ and ‘Seedless litchi’, to the orchard in Lefeng village, Liangtian Town, Zhenning County in the Beipan River valley.
Panicle emergence, blooming and fruit maturation of the three cultivars occurred in early February, early April and early July, respectively.
The phenophase of the three cultivars was different by 3-5 days.
After 9 years of field observation, the three cultivars showed good adaptation, stable flowering and fruiting, and excellent fruit quality.
Moreover, the fruit maturation period in this area occurs between the main producing area in South China and Sichuan province, which can fill the market gap and has regional and ecological advantages.
