Abstract
Since 1980 various methods were tested to eliminate or diminish the number of apothecia (sexual phase) developed from the sclerotia of the white mould fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.
The most effective treatment under the experimental conditions was the use of a calcium cyanamide fertilizer (42–45 % a.i.) in an amount of 100 kg nitrogen/ha (i.e. 500 kg of the commercial fertilizer Perlka). In the average of ten field experiments in 1980 – 1983 the number of apothecia was diminished by 90 to 95 %. In the glasshouse (3 experiments) the elimination percentage reached 80 – 90 %.
