Abstract
Several trials of lettuce in the glasshouse, out of which three have been shown here, were carried out during the winter seasons of 1982/83 and 1983/84. Some varieties of butterhead lettuce were grown at different plant spacing.
Higher plant density than in nord-western Europe was used too.
The results have proved that higher plant density gives larger yields but the lettuce heads are smaller.
