Abstract
In order to avoid high water applications, cuttings of Pothos aureus, Philodendron seandens, Weigela rosea, Crataegus oxyacantha, Cotoneaster dammeri and Pyracantha coccinea were just scarcely irrigated, but treated with an antitranspirant substance (pinolene) at two concentrations (2‰ and 4‰). Their rooting percentage wasn’t generally significantly different from that of cuttings under mist or under polyethylene film; antitranspirant application, however, has sometimes delayed rooting to some extent.
In Philodendron, synergy between antitranspirant treatment and polyethylene covering was detected, regarding quickness of rooting.
