VALIDITY OF THERMAL-UNIT METHODS FOR PREDICTING THE FLOWERING OF GLADIOLUS DURING WINTER SEASON

Abstract
For predicting the flowering of winter grown gladiolus, four thermal-unit methods were evaluated by means of data collected from eleven experiments, all including 4 cultivars.

The results indicated that the thermal-unit methods were more satisfactory than the calendar days method, and suggested that a relatively simple temperature-time scale could adequately predict the dates of flowering.
