THE STUDY ON THE SPERMICIDAL EFFECT OF NAM MAN PHLAI, ZINGIBER CASSUMUNAR ROXB

Abstract
The study on the spermicidal effect, in vitro, on ox sperms, of the fractions and pure compound, isolated from-Zingiber cassumunar Roxb., revealed that fractions no. 3 and 4 and terpinen-4-ol isolated from fraction no. 4, possess ED100 at the % concentrations of 0.05, 0.025 and 0.015, respectively, equivalent to that of 0.025% of nonyl phenoxy polyethoxy ethanol.

The results on chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology studies, will be discussed.
