Abstract
The research was carried out on fruits of the prickly pear cv "Gialla" to test the effect of intermittent warming (10 days at 2 °C followed by 4 days at 8 °C) and constant temperature (6 °C) in preventing, or at least, reducing storage disorders.
With each temperature level the fruits were divided into two groups, one treated with Benomyl and the other untreated.
The results pointed to the positive effect of intermittent warming as concerns chilling injury and percentage of nothing.
Even the respiratory rate was lower in fruits stored in these conditions.
No differences related to treatment were found, due to its low effectiveness.
