Abstract
Various cowpea explants: hypocotyl, epicotyl, stem explant (with and without apex), cotyledon and cotyledonary leaf initiated callus on a medium containing various growth adjuvants viz., 2,3-D, NAA and Kinetin in combination with sucrose.
Embryogenic callus could be obtained only with 2,4-D. NAA favoured rhizogenesis in all the explants, while direct shoot regeneration was only observed from the stem explant (with apex) when a Kinetin-supplement Murashige & Skoog medium was used.
