Abstract
Vegetables are potential money makers for the rural poor of northern Togo.
Together with cereals and fruit they are sold on local markets.
The article looks into the market situation, price setting and seasonal price fluctuations for the main cereals and vegetables in three rural markets of the Savannah region, northern Togo.
Price trends closely follow marketed quantities for fresh vegetables.
Dried and processed vegetables have rather stable prices throughout the year.
There are marked differences in the quality and number of products marketed on the three markets.
