Abstract
The effect of clean cultivation v/s pine bark mulching has been studied in a factorial trial with six different fertilizer treatments: (1) check, (2) P, (3) NKMg, (4) NPKMg, (5) NPMg, (6) NPK. Mulching had a positive effect on terminal growth and size of bushes (volume). Berry yield was significantly higher on bark mulched plots.
Mineral fertilization had no effect on yield of berries on bark mulched plants.

Blueberry bushes from clean cultivated plots showed visible symptoms of K and Mg deficiency and reacted positively to mineral fertilization.
The yield was highest in the treatment with nitrogen, potassium and magnesium, with or no phosphorus (NKMg) or (NPKMg). Check plants treated only with phosphorus gave the lowest yield.

Strong Mg deficiency symptoms were observed when leaf Mg content was 0.047%. There was no significantly proved reaction of fertilization upon growth and yield of the bushes.
