Abstract
An overview is given of environmental factors influencing Vaccinium growing, especially in connection with highbush blueberry production.
The blueberry plant has specific climatic and edaphic requirements.
The natural vegetation suggests suitable blueberry soil, which ideally is acid, light, well drained and proper provided with moisture.
Climatic requirements are about 160 growing days (summer) and a period with lower temperatures (winter) to fulfil chilling requirements.
