Abstract
In vitro propagation of thin-leaf sunflower (Helianthus decapetalus L.) was achieved by subculturing shoot sections with nodes in Murashige-Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 0.1 mg N6-benzyladenine (BA) · liter-1. A multiplication rate of 4.9 per 22-day culture period was achieved, resulting in theoretically yielding 110.4 billion shoots from a shoot tip in a year.
Shoots elongated from these in vitro cultured nodes could be rooted in MS medium with 0.1 mg indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) · liter-1. Plants produced were readily acclimatized and flowered in a greenhouse.
