Abstract
Since kiwifruit has only recently been introduced into cultivation in Southern Italy, very little information its available on is quality to the growing environment.
In order to know the best harvesting time, periodical observations were made on Hayward fruit collected from "Tendone" of the same age growing in eight orchards from four growing areas in Southern Italy (Apulia and Basilicata regions) located on the Adriatic and on the Ionic environments.

Results showed no differences among sites for weight, size, length, width, tickness, acidity, and vitamin C. The environment in contrast, influenced °Brix and firmness which were 8,30 and 7,42 and 6,58 and 8,06, respectively for the Adriatic and Ionic Areas.
