Abstract
The effect of flower buds shading, without shading the whole plant, ongrowth and development of rose flowers was examined by insertion of rose buds in shading net cylinders.
The results of the experiments showed that insertion of flower buds at early development stages in aluminumstriped knitted net cylinders resalted in September by a decrease of 4 o C in the midday bud temperature.
The decrease in temperature was accompanied by an increase of 35% in fresh weight and about 20% in dry weight of the flower buds.
At the harvest stage the shaded buds were 10%-20% longer in comparation with the unshaded once.
