Abstract
Terrestrial plants base their systemic organization on the integration of the functions of Shoot and Root (S-R), the products of which complement each other in the formation of the common substrate for growth and of the diverse correlative environment for development.
This causes each organ (S or R) to be conditioned by the activity of the other, leading to a mutually-limiting role of each factor in the opposite organ.
Each factor then, if abundant, allows the opposite organ to grow while, when scarce, leads it to a conservative stand.
The latter condition, in limbs, prompts reproduction.
