Abstract
The winter production of the gerbera is very variable.
The minimal temperatures, specially in the soil, and the planting dates, are of leading importance.
In moderate temperature conditions, the winter behaviour is much varying according to the genotypes.
The heritability of this characteristic seems to be very high, and a selection work in the limits of a minimum air heating temperature of 12°C until the end of december, then 10°C on January 1st, is very promising.
