Abstract
Data of experimental research on Calathea makoyana concerning the effect of some growth regolators used alone or in combination, at different rates, are referred.
The products employed in soil drenching were IAA, NAA, kinetin and GA3. This last was used at a rate between 2 and 32 ppm.

It is well known that, commercially, Calathea makoyana plants should have large size leaves with a petiole as long as possible.
For this reason the use of growth regulators aims of promoting the formation of new leaves and of increasing the size of the leaves.
The experiments were carried out in the glasshouse in a growing medium containing a mixture of beech leaves and manure.
The plants were grown in plastic pots.
The data recorded were number and size of the leaves, length of the petiole.
GA3 has always caused a considerable increase of leaf area and of the length of petiole reducing, at the same time, the number of new formed leaves.
