RASPBERRY CULTIVARS FOR FRUIT PRODUCTION UNDER MOUNTAIN CONDITIONS

Abstract
In the near past, the Lovech region where the Institute of Troyan is located was one of the major raspberry-producing regions in our country.
In the last years, due to arising socio-economic changes, the raspberry areas strongly decreased.
That, together with global change in climate, resulted in strong reduction of fruit production.
The use of appropriate cultivars is decisive for its restoration.
As a result of the study it was found that Shopska Alena, Samodiva, Balgarski Rubin, Iskra, Willamette and Ralitsa were most widely grown in the region.
These cultivars covered a picking period of 24-17 days.
The fruit size was 2,4 tо 3,3 g. Iskra, Ralitsa, Samodiva had larger fruits.
Dry matter content was 9,3 tо 10,4% for Iskra and Ralitsa, respectively.
Sugars were 3,79% for Samodiva to 5,47% for Ralitsa. In our studies, the cultivars Samodiva and Shopska Alena proved to be high yielding and under favourable conditions they allowed obtaining yields of over 1000 kg/da.
