Abstract
The paper presents two-year investigations (2005-2006) of basic productive and organoleptic traits of the apple cultivars Mondial Gala, Galaxy, Golden Reinders, Braeburn and Jonathan Watson grown in the vicinity of Cacak.
The plantation was established in 2003 with a 3 × 1.3 m spacing (2,564 trees/ha). The cultivars were grafted on the M9 rootstock.
The training system used was Slender Spindle.
The results showed that the highest fruit weight was registered with the Braeburn apple (241.00 g) and the lowest weight with the cultivar Galaxy (146.60 g). The highest and lowest yields were recorded with the Mondial Gala (26.922 t/ha) and Braeburn (14.614 t/ha) cultivars, respectively.
The highest share of fruits with diameter over 70 mm was determined in the cultivars Braeburn (98.00%) and Golden Reinders (92.00%) and the lowest one in the Galaxy apple (16.00%). The Jonathan Watson had the best fruit skin colour (85.90%) and the highest soluble solids content was determined in the Golden Reinders apple (16.00°Brix).
