Abstract
Ten previously reported chloroplast simple sequence repeats (cpSSRs) primers from Nicotiana tabacum and Arabidopsis thaliana were used to analyze the chloroplast DNA variabilities in three main Castanea species, i.e. C. mollissima, C. crenata and C. henryi. The results showed eight cpSSR primers revealed specific amplification bands, three of which produced polymorphic bands.
Eight polymorphic alleles were generated using those three primers, with an average of 2.67 alleles per primer.
The general universality of cpSSR primers was further discussed.
