Abstract
Eleven Chinese chestnut cultivars were selected for callus induction by tissue culture.
The results showed that the better media for callus induction were WPM and MS media. Tanqiao, Xintian, Shao Shiba, Huaguan, and Hongli were induced callus successfully.
The induction rate, 75%, from embryo as the explant was higher than that of other tissues.
The inducement rate from young stems was 65%. Both petioles and leaves as explants produced less callus.
The better hormone combinations for some Chinese chestnut cultivars were 0.5 mg/L of 6-BA and 0.2 mg/L of NAA. Adventitious buds were induced from callus of Tangqiao and roots could be produced from callus of Huaguan.
