MEDICINAL PLANT DIVERSITY IN THE FLORA OF THE WEST PART OF BUCEGI MOUNTAINS (ROMANIA)

Abstract
This paper presents the ecology, sozological category, distribution, habitats, threats, management and monitoring, conservation methods of the medicinal plant species in the west part of the Bucegi Mountains (Meridional Carpathians, Romania). In this territory were identified 275 species of medicinal plants belonging to 190 genus and 69 families. Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Ranunculaceae, Apiaceae, Fabaceae and Rosaceae are the largest families and have more than 10 species of medicinal plants.
Some species, such as Gentiana lutea, Angelica archangelica, Arnica montana, Rhododendron myrtifolium, Leontopodium alpinum, Hepatica transsilvanica, Streptopus amplexifolius are endemic, rare or vulnerable taxa both in Europe and in Romania being mentioned in several national and international documents (Red List of the superior plants of Romania, Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC).
