Abstract
An Israeli pulsing solution containing 50 ppm silver nitrate, 300 ppm aluminium sulfate and 250 ppm 8 hydroxyquinoline citrate plus 20% sucrose used for an 18 hour pulse was better for gladiolus than either Physan 20 (a quaternary ammonium compound) or silver thiosulfate (STS) plus sucrose.
The criteria for judging the spikes was the size of the third and eighth florets on the fourth and seventh days, respectively, and the number of open and wilted florets on the seventh day.

An 8 minute STS treatment gave a good response but more than a 50 minute pulse was phytotoxic.
