CONTROL OF DRECHSLERA IRIDIS ON BULBOUS IRIS BY SOIL APPLICATIONS OF TRIADIMEFON

Abstract
Greenhouse and field trials demonstrated soil applications of the systemic fungicide triadimefon controlled ink spot, caused by Drechslera iridis (Oud.) Ellis, on ‘Ideal’ Iris.
Granules (5%) of triadimefon were mixed into potting soil, applied in furrow at the time of planting, or applied over rows prior to a second hillup 3 weeks after planting.
Mixing potting soil with the equivalent of 0.47 kg triadimefon per ha gave excellent control of ink spot.
Potting soil containing triadimefon at or above 9.4 kg/ha resulted in reduced plant height.
Blasted flowers increased significantly when plants were forced in potting soil containing triadimefon at or above 18.63 kg/ha.
Excellent control of ink spot on field grown Iris was obtained from in furrow applications of triadmefon at planting.
Applications of triadimefon to the top of rows 3 weeks after planting were ineffective.
Ink spot can be effectively controlled through a single growing season with an in furrow application of triadimefon at the time of planting.
