Abstract
Experimental Station of Vegetable Crops in Przyborów has been leading studies of cultivation of greenhouse vegetables using the tray container method since 1976.

The above study comprises the results of two experiments of tomato cultivation and deals with the problems of the proper choice of the nutrient solution, the right density of plants, the effect of the flow of nutrient and the productive quality of several cultivars tomato. 1 % solution of Nowokont /that is 1 g salt/1 of water/ was accepted as the best concentration of the nutrient solution. 3% concentration causes visible depression of tomato yields.

From the yields analysis of six cultivars in experiment I /Nortona F1, Kos F1, Pagham Cross F1, Virtona F1, Virosa F1, Potentat/ it is evident that they represent similar productive quality and only Potentat gave lower early crops.

However in experiment II /multi-containers/ Nortona appeared slightly more fruitful than Pagham Cross in spring and autumn cycles.
The flow of nutrient did not cause any yields increase.
The optimum density of plants in containers is 3.33 plants/m2. Tray container method requires additional investments.
On the condition of proper fertilization and adequate physical parametres of substrates this method gives positive results: early and high yields of good quality tomato fruit, it can be an attractive system of plant cultivation in greenhouses.
