Abstract
Interest in foliar nutrition has grown because of increased costs of fertilizers, environmental concerns, and better knowledge of plant growth.
Nutrients applied to foliage are usually absorbed more rapidly and efficiently than are nutrients applied to soil.
Foliar nutrition is affected by light, temperature, relative humidity, and pH; these effects are often indirect, influencing the plant and substances in solution rather than absorption itself.
Foliar nutrition offers a management technique with specific advantages in intensive horticultural production.
