Abstract
In sub-tropical climates, winter temperature induce citrus floral induction and flowering follows during the warmer spring temperatures.
In Ethiopia drought and rainfall are the main causes for floral induction.
Anthesis occurs when drought is interrupted by rains or after the rainy season ends.

Located between 4°N – 18°N latitude, Ethiopia is able to grow high quality citrus almost year round from orchards in different climatic regions.
This study describes five different periods of citrus bloom in Ethiopia: spring, autumn, winter-bloom, spring-autumn-blooms and year-round blooms.
Based on the blooming season and climate, five phenological regions are identified as potential production centres capable of supplying citrus throughout the year.
