Abstract
Problems of disease are one of the major constraints for potato production in Ethiopia.
In order to find some means of controlling them different trials on potato diseases, mainly on late blight, phytophthora infestans (mont) de Bary, were conducted at Ambo experimental fields: evaluation of potato varieties and clones for resistance to late blight; fungicide trial; identification of race composition of Phytophthora infestans; potato seed treatment trial; and assessment of losses due to late blight.
Some results on maitenance of foundation of potato seed are noted too.

The objective of this paper is to give highlights on potato pathology research activity conducted during 1982 and 1983 at the Scientific Phytopathological Laboratory (SPL) located in Ambo, Ethiopia.
