Abstract
Experiments were carried out in Israel to select lime- tolerant avocado and mango rootstocks for use in soils with a high lime content.

Tolerant rootstocks were selected for both species and some of the best selections, such as ‘Maoz’ of the so-called ‘Nachlat’ West-Indian avocado type and ’13–1′, a polyembryonic mango type, are now being used in Israel as rootstocks for orchards planted on calcareous soils.
